REMAIN behind
 а) держаться сзади, позади (кого-л., чего-л.); Its safest to remain a good distance behind, in case the car in front suddenly stops.

REMAIN clear of coll. избегать, сторониться (чего-л.); At busy times, its best to avoid the main roads, and remain clear of them.
